Forever young I wanna be

[:en]This series of photos is a visual reflection on the actual favorable life expectancy, incredibly increased in the last 100 years, and the pervasive hedonism of our society, which creates a paradoxical situation of non-acceptance of what looks old. This behavior is probably more visible in women, where aging is often denied turning to beauty treatments and plastic surgery. 

The utopian will to keep or reach an ideally conceived beauty, leads the subject to enter into a spiral of irreversible processes that generates an effect of alienation till extreme situations, where he/she may not more recognize himself in his/her own body. 

Images of this series want to explore this perturbation of the self perception, hidden behind the imperishable smile and unshakable serene look of the Barbies, model of beauty since the Sixties, that matches with old and dried flowers and fruits, which would celebrate the supreme and indisputable beauty of nature, even when it’s aged. 

I used a macro lens to create this series. 

[:it]Questa serie di fotografie è una riflessione visiva rispetto alla favorevole aspettativa di vita che è incredibilmente aumentata negli ultimi cento anni, e il diffuso edonismo della nostra società, che ha generato una situazione paradossale di non-accettazione di ciò che appare vecchio. Questo comportamento è probabilmente più evidente nelle donne, dove il naturale invecchiamento è spesso negato ricorrendo a trattamenti di bellezza e chirurgia estetica.  

L’utopistico desiderio di mantenere o raggiungere un ideale di bellezza induce a entrare in una spirale di processi irreversibili che generano un effetto di estraniamento nel soggetto che, in casi estremi, finisce per non riconoscersi più nelle sue forme modificate. Le immagini di questa serie vogliono esplorare questo senso di sconvolgimento della percezione del sé, nascosta dietro al sorriso incorruttibile e allo sguardo sereno inalterabile delle Barbies, mentre l’accostamento con fiori e frutta caduchi, vuole celebrare la suprema e indiscutibile bellezza della natura, anche quando sta per o è già appassita.
